Entries are invited for the re-run of the 6th and final BMFA/Midland Region E'soaring competition of 2019 at Fish Meadow
Upton Upon Severn ( With thanks to The Malvern Soaring Association ) on Sunday 13th October 2019.

This competition is to replace the one that was abandoned due to weather at Pillerton last weekend.

Comp is on, but start delayed until 11.00am

Fish Meadow is at Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire, Upton is situated on the banks of
the river Severn and lies mid-way between the towns of Tewkesbury and Malvern. It is close to
Exit 1 on the M50 motorway.

On leaving the M50 at exit 1, take the A38 north for three miles, in the direction of Worcester,
to the staggered junction with the A4104 at Bluebell Farm and signed to Upton upon Severn.
Turn left on to the A4104. In one mile you gain access to the flying field via a slip road from the A4104
(near the Marina)

When aproaching from the East, the slip road is on your left an about 100 yards before you reach the bridge
over the River Severn just a few yards past the entrance to the Upton Marina.

The slip road runs parallel to the main road towards the bridge and river, follow the slip road slowly and go to the right and
follow it down the slope and under the tunnel this then opens out into Fish Meadow. Access is normally
controlled by a locked barrier but this will be open on the day from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM on the day of the comp
and again in the afternoon.

A post code of WR8 0PB will put you on the slip road but do not turn left into East Waterside.

All,
Thanks for your entries.

Well, we've now got the bare eight again this week.

It appears that there will be very light wind on Sunday, on the other hand it's forecasted to be raining through the day.

Watch this space for a decision tomorrow (Saturday) lunchtime on whether we go with it or not.

Any input of opinions on the situation from the entrants so far, would be most welcome!!
Please append your thoughts to this thread - thank you..

Cheers,

Cliff

Gordon Brown, 2m, have limiter.
(Similar doubts about the "dampness"!)

Thanks

Further to your request for thoughts, Cliff, for me it doesn't look like a very pleasant day out, and would like to withdraw, but happy in still leaving you with a quorum.
I understand this would have been your last CD'ing for us Cliff, and I'd like to say thank you very much for the pleasant way you've run the show for the last few years.
Hopefully you'll still join us when you can under the new management
Kind Regards
Andrew

Hi Cliff, just checked the weather for tomorrow, there is a front coming up from the south west over night with heavy rain, but should clear Upton by mid day, but dont bank on it. If it's going to happen I would suggest a late start again. Mick.

Thanks for your observations Mick. As no one else has indicated a reluctance to fly (or to travel!) in the forecasted conditions.

The comp is ON.

I agree conditions should improve once the over night front has gone through. But I'm sure we will experience a couple of showers during the day. Sods law that the clouds are due to clear and sun will be out around 4 o'clock - just as we are packing up!

Under these circumstances it will be wise to start a little later than normal, as we did last week.

So the start will be at 11.00am and we'll see how we go from there.

See y'all in the morning
