Hi Cliff

As I mentioned by text, I'd like to enter this weekend's event at Hawling.
Brett Wilson; 2.4GHz; Open; have HLD

(Just spotted that you've already added me to the list - many thanks)
Regards

Brett

Hi Cliff

Is there still tie for me to swop from 'Open' to '2m'? I've got a twitchy servo on my Supra, but won't get the opportunity in time to change it for Sunday.

Cheers

Brett

Great day's competition flying at Hawling after a somewhat grey and misty start. Wonderful to catch up with old friends and to be reminded after a year's absence that, to my mind at least, eSoaring is still the best thermal comp format. (... and discuss!)

And to top it all there was birthday cake all round!

Many thanks to Cliff and Marlene for organising the event.

Brett

Thanks for your kind words Brett, it was good to have you along again!

Yes it was a nuisance having a delayed start due to the low cloud and mist. However having finally got under way at about 11.20, the weather rapidly improved and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon. With light thermal breezes and clear blue skies.

The battle at the top continued between the top runners in the Midland region. This time Steve Hannon came out on top, with John Freeman a close second and Mike Raybone just a couple of points behind in third.
Gordon Brown flew steadily all day, to again take the 2M class, followed by Brett Wilson and Martin Bell. Congratulations to all the winners, and to everyone else who took part.

It was good to see John Davies and Dennis Christie, who have both come out of (competiton) retirement, to join us with their newly acquired models. The old magic is still there and they'll soon be a force to be reckoned with again Wink .

As Brett mentioned, we ended the day with a birthday celebration for Marlene. Complete with a birthday cake, kindly supplied by Ginny and Andrew Holmes. This was enjoyed by all, including our visitors (who we hope to see again - but this time with their models!)

Our next and final event will be at Pillerton Hersey on Sunday October 1st.
This will also be the final round of the Midland 'Brucie' championship, when the results will be announced and the trophies awarded. (Should poor weather prevent this comp taking place we will endeavour to run an alternative soon afterwards, possibly at Fish Meadow).

Regards to all,

Cliff
