Confirmation from the MSA lads, that the tunnel is clear and the field has dried out satisfactorily. See y'all at Fish Meadow on Sunday

Hi Cliff,
Please accept my entry for Open, 2.4 , and have gizmo. Coming a long way from "tup North" so please be gentle with me, particularly Mike Raybone.

Many thanks, John Cuthbert.

Hi Mike,
That's not very nice. You received a very warm welcome from all the guys tup north last week. We even let you leave with a bottle of wine. Ah well just have to kick your ass again. Can't wait.

Ha Ha, love John.

Hi Cliff

Zillion apologies as I'm pulling out of tomorrows' comp. Lots of technical issues this week ending in my X9D on/off switch not working properly. Once sorted I will attend the next one.

I've asked the same on BARCS. Has anyone got an X9D or Plus none EU version they'd be willing to part with?

All the best hope tomorrow goes well, Tony

Ok Tony, thanks for letting us know.

Sorry to learn of your switch problem, good luck with the repair (or replacement).

See you next time.

Despite the fears of some, the forecasts were not as bad as projected.
Fortunately the wind speed was quite flyable, even by the lightest of the models present.
BUT unfortunately what wind there was, came directly to Fish Meadow from the North Pole.
So it was much colder than we'd experienced through the previous week (sods law at work again!).
However good lift was there to be used, right from the first slot, but the sink could be horrendous.
Some slots were flown out with ease, indeed many were overflown due to underestimated descent rates.
Others proved more difficult making six minutes difficult to attain - let alone exceed.

Congratulations to the winners John Freeman (open) and Martin Oldershaw (2M) also class placings for mastering the varying conditions.

The next meeting will be at Hawling in April.
Our normal weekend date falls on Easter Sunday.
Being mindful this may not be suitable for many, a poll was initiated.
A vote was taken with those present, and the majority preferred to go with the reserve date the following weekend.

Therefore the Hawling competition will be on Sunday 28th April 2019

Fingers crossed for good weather and hope to see you there...

PS: I really didn't expect to return home from this event suffering from a sunburnt face Sad Exclamation

Dear Cliff,
I wish to thank you Cliff and the rest of the Midland area competitors for the very warm welcome and banter I received on Sunday. Particularly after travelling so far from the up North. The welcome was significantly warmer than the weather, bitterly cold. We never experience such conditions up North, ask Mike Raybone. I must confess feeling somewhat disappointed with my final result, particularly after my strong position after 5 rounds. In round six I had great difficulty controlling my model throughout the flight which subsequently turned out to be a broken aileron. Possibly caused by a heavy arrival in round 5. I hastily assembled my spare Claymore for round 7 but the motor refused to start, no idea why. After several attempts to solve the problem I finally got away half way through the round. Hence my poor showing in the last two rounds. Apart from all this I thoroughly enjoyed my day with you all and look forward to being with you again soon. On which note can I ask you Cliff to send me your Competition dates and venues for the remainder of the year. My email address is johnf1c.cuthbert@btopenworld.com

Best regards, John Cuthbert.
