As far as I know there are 2 events which fall into the XC category. Both are for pure gliders.
The one which has been flown in the UK is Slope XC where you launch and fly to various turn points (you too have to be at the turn to score) and return home. Normally you get one launch and have to leave the start gate within a certain time, I think. Not sure of the situation re XC nowadays.
However, there is and FAI Provisional class called F3H full rules here
http://www.fai.org/aeromodelling/system ... 10_Rev.pdfThis is for towline gliders, one launch and again you have to get round the course on one launch, or farthest-fastest wins.
I ran one of these events at Elvington a million years ago, where we had 2 miles of Peri track and used cars to chase. We decided that once was enough!
I once did a bout 4.5 miles from the back of a motor bike, along quiet lanes when BARCS had a Distance class. There is certainly a cross country record within BARCS.
Cheers
Mike
