This is the second round of this years series, it should have been the third but we lost the first round due to the weather.
After my spectacular mixup with the results of our last comp(F5J) at Bartletts, I am trusting that this
time I will get them right.

The usual Bartletts Rules rules apply, dual entries welcomed, open , 2M or 100" perm any 2 from 3.

£5.00 per entry.

Start at 10am.

Belated update due to laptop demise,

Entry list full with 28 pilots which is the max we feel the field can accommodate.
Weather ordered, warm sunny with a breeze is promised.

Looks like the largest entry electric comp since the old king died Cool

Report and results to follow.

The promised weather turned up and gave us some excellent flying conditions that changed as forcast during the day. Early morning was hot and sunny with almost no wind , and later a quite strong wind in the afternoon.

With a full field of 28 pilots, safety requirements for the site were the main items in the pilots briefing. And we were pleased to welcome 3 new competitors, not only new to the site but also taking part in their first comp.

First flights were away shortly after 10 am, and despite what looked like ideal ‘wall to wall’ lift conditions, the first few slots showed that it was going to be an interesting day. Visibility at height was poor, and launching into the southerly breeze meant we also faced the sun which didn’t help. Finding lift proved to be not that easy and most slots had some who missed out and one or two who got away. Most slots had a mix of models flying, and this added to the fun when spotting the model in the best air. It can be a hard decision to make when you are not sure if you are looking at a 2M , 100” or open model.

The wind did gradually pick up as the day progressed and after a lunch break it was decidedly stronger, which caused a number of exciting landings. The direction also moved to a south easterly and the flight line was moved 45deg to suit. This meant that landing approach was now over a tall bank of trees and down the incline of the field. Two models were caught by the trees, one of which was rescued by the farmer using his tractor with a lifting platform in which one of our brave flyers rode up to the stranded model.

6 rounds were finished by 4.30 and the prize giving followed shortly after. It was a very close run thing and as can be seen in the attached, and Paul Wainwright was the winner by just 2points.

Looking forward to the next round, especially as it will be Brian’s turn to cd again.
