Just a few things to add.
Entries were low for various reasons, a pity on such a good day.
Weather was extremely good, wind never got anywhere near the forecast 6mph max and we had no rain. Bill was taking no chances that his model might get wet and did his early test flights with the fin and tailplane covers still on the plane! The most amazing thing was that it flew reasonably well, if a bit tail heavy and a touch numb on the controls. He wouldn't give us a better chance by leaving them on in the comp though.
The conditions were tricky and many slots were to show very little lift, requiring careful flying and even more care in the selection of launch height. One or two slots were bestowed with bigger lift and John Cuthbert took his 2M Q12 to some considerable height, probably the most I have ever seen such a model achieve. Be interested to know what it was if you check the log John.
Richard flew his Vinco until a servo problem forced a move to his Kappa. Bob flew his new lightweight and had a bit of an up-and-down day, in contrast with Martyn who hit his best form yet to take 2nd with a heavyish Pike Perfection. He is probably working on the hypothesis that he will be in form for 2018. Gordon flew his Q12 and had some very good scores. Gary flew his home built, AVA style machine and John Milner continued to do well with his o/d 2M model. Dave reached his full potential with a win in slot 5 and I had the best set of landing scores!
And finally, Martyn and I were taking afternoon coffee and reviewing the %scores when we noticed that Bob had not one but two, consecutive scores of exactly 500.00. This is so odd that we checked back in the score sheets and he did indeed have two scores which were exactly half of the winner's, hence 500 points.
Next Northern event will be at Christmas, weather permitting, hope to see you then.
