Entries are invited for the BMFA eSoaring League competition at Hawling.
(nearest postcode GL54 5TA)

That will be held on Sunday 22nd April 2018.

08.30am to 9.30am – Signing on, flight testing and altimeter checks where required.
09.45am - Pilot Briefing
10.00am - Contest start time
30 minute lunch break after the fourth round
04.30pm – Contest ends.
05.00pm – Results and Prize giving.

A £7.00 entry fee is payable at sign in.

A loan H/L switch can be provided if required at a fee of £5 for the event.
If this is your first eSoaring event then the switch will be loaned F.O.C

A breezy day at Hawling, one of the highest points on the Cotswolds welcomed 12 competitors for the second Midland comp.
Many of the slots were flown out during periods when the windspeed reduced and the thermals came through.
Others ranged from 2.45 to 6.00 minutes. Much of the time during these slots were, when the windspeed was at its highest, flown by just holding the model into the wind and hoping for patches of lift to come through to extend the flight time.

John Freeman eventually hit form, mastering the conditions as the day progressed. Raising him from sixth at half time to winning the open class at the end of the day.
All this without the help of his normal sparring partner (Steve Hannon) who was away at the London marathon - not running I hasten to add!

Roger Keatley coped consistently well ith his lightweight model to take the 2 metre award. In runner up spot was John Benetto, a creditable placing as John was joining us for the first time as a competitor!
A welcome returnee to our number was Brett Wilson who took the third 2 metre award.

We were visited by several spectators, two were modelling friends of mine, Peter and Barbara.
Barbara kindly made the presentations to the various winners at the end of proceedings.

Our next event will be in May, at Fish Meadow, Upton on Severn. CD for this comp will be Ian Purcell.
