Hi
Just back from the Peterboro' Motor Caravan show.....
So if its not too late, please include me for the Hawling fun on Sunday.

GB 2m 2.4, as usual.

(If you have pre-prepped everything - no worries, can always do some snoozing instead.... Confused )

Hi Cliff,

Sorry, I'm going to pull out, I think the forecast wind speeds are still too much for me to find it enjoyable, so I'll wish everyone good luck and see you at the next one.

Best Regards,

Roger

Ever so sorry Cliff but likewise to Roger I am withdrawing. I 'm not really set up yet for the wind conditions with a 2m model.
Hopefully good for next time.

We are now down to the minimum of eight competitors for this event.

However the decision has been made to continue as planned.

Therefore the comp is on!

I've been sticking pins into Mike Raybones effigy for a couple of days so the weather Gods should be with us.

As the windspeed is on a reducing forecast, it may be prudent to delay the start for a while, we'll see what the morning brings

(Unfortunately, started rain dance a day too early...)

A great days soaring was enjoyed at this popular venue.
Despite our concerns before the event, the conditions were not a problem - although there were a few comments about it being rather chilly first thing in the morning. (Mainly from Steve Hannon Wink ).
Lift was available from the start, and this improved as the day progressed.
The overcast cleared whilst lunch was being taken and the afternoon was spent thermalling under clear blue skies with a few puffy white clouds!

The cold that was bothering Steve in the morning did not hamper his flying skills, and he proved a worthy winner in the open class.
Closely followed by runner up Mick Barnett.
Mick has not lost any of his old form, depite a three year lay off - it's good to have him back.

Only two 2M models competed in this event, Gordon Brown flying his lightest models took the class win.
I was flying the Sprite to keep Gordon company, but was no match for the lightweight performance of the Horejsi Q12.
(I know, I know - a bad workman and his tools......).

My grateful thanks go to (birthday boy On Sunday - kept that quiet!) Ian Purcell for helping out running these League events by taking on the paperwork and the matrix.
In fact on this occasion, the matrix was redone by Ian at 11.00pm Saturday after an evening out!

Finally just as an aside, like our friends up North who had been flying an F5J comp, observed. - When we eventually left Hawling there were balloons taking to the air.
So much for our worries about it being too windy....... I lost a lot of sleep for nothing!.

Ian will be CD at our next event at Fish Meadow on Sunday 19th May. Hope to see you all there!

Regards,

Cliff
